Behind the Scenes at Personalised Printed Ribbons – The Morning Routine

Depending on the time of year, we can start as early as 6 am, but whatever time it is, the first in starts the coffee machine.  We operate on flexible schedules to accommodate the ebb and flow of orders. Christmas time can see 24-hour shifts at times, and we are not averse to working over the weekend if necessary.  We have a couple of office dogs who love a walk at lunchtime in neighbouring fields and parks.

We have a daily huddle each morning, quickly going through everything that needs to be done that day.  It’s short and sweet but allows us to communicate effectively as a team with the day’s productions.  We all work pretty close together, so the conversations continue all day.

Sorting Orders

Orders arrive via various online platforms, so the first task of the day is to select ribbons and the printing inks and assign the stock to the order.  We hold hundreds of kilometres of ribbon in stock, so rarely do we not have enough ribbon, but if need be, our fantastic suppliers will arrange a next-day delivery for us.

The Ribbon Selection Process:

The design team will send all our customers a visual of the printed ribbon before we print, so the first task of the day is to contact the customer and show them how their ribbon will look.   The same team will respond to email enquiries and telephone calls, advising and suggesting different printing formats for the best quality print on their ribbons.

This team are working hard with our suppliers at the moment to secure any sustainable or eco-friendly options available to us whilst actively sourcing new suppliers for fabrics & printing dyes.

The best-printed ribbons are a delight to print; the colour combinations, logos, and font choices can produce awe-inspiring results.

Our design team love collaborating with our customers, helping them with their choices, the colours & styles of ribbon and printing available to them to create their gift wrapping.

The Printing Process:

We have various printing methods at our disposal, the most popular being a heat print method, which is quick and often available for next-day service.  We offer washcare printing, perfect for clothing label printing.  There are matt finishes and metallic finishes, too.

Quality Assurance:

We use the latest technology to produce excellent ribbons for our customers.  Each ribbon is checked by the printer and again when the ribbon is wrapped.

Packing with Care:

Our designated pack team not only check the quality of the product but also select the most efficient way to ship the ribbon to you.  They will photograph the ribbon, carefully wrap it, and pack it in a suitable box.  We reuse boxes where possible and try hard to minimise plastic when packing.  The parcel is passed to our trusted carriers, and an email is automatically sent to our customers with their tracking information.

Customer Service:

Each order is assigned to a specific person; this is the first point of contact with our customers, albeit via email or telephone.  They will ensure that the design is communicated correctly.  We value every customer, and many of our customers have been ordering their printed ribbons from us for many many years.  We are known to have brilliant customer service.

End of Day Reflection:

When feedback from our customers is received, we add this to our thank you board; as every staff member contributes to the printed ribbon, we encourage everyone to read this on their way home.  We actively encourage our team to exercise; the dogs are happy to help!  We are a family business, so it is not unusual for us to join each other for a walk, a meal, or to add another piece to the huge puzzle that sits on the bench for weeks sometimes!  We’ve been working together since 2007, and enjoy each other’s company.
