Printing Custom Ribbon for Christian Dior at Paris Fashion Week

An urgent international order, specialist extra-wide printed ribbon and a deadline that wasn’t going to move.

One of the more memorable projects to come through our Essex print room was an urgent request for custom printed ribbon for a Christian Dior event during Paris Fashion Week.

The enquiry came from a client in America who needed bespoke extra-wide ribbon produced and delivered to Paris – quickly.

Custom Printed Ribbon for a Dior Event

The client already had a design in mind, but artwork that looks good on a screen doesn’t always translate directly onto ribbon.

Our first job was therefore to look at the supplied design and make the adjustments needed for the dimensions and printing process, while keeping the finished ribbon in line with the intended appearance.

Once the layout had been agreed, we could move quickly into production.

Colour Matching the Ribbon Design

Colour was an important part of this project.

Our full-colour printing process allows us to work from supplied Pantone, CMYK, HEX or RGB colour references and produce the closest achievable colour match on the ribbon.

For an event involving a globally recognised fashion brand, getting the overall presentation right was particularly important.

Extra-Wide Printed Ribbon for a Backdrop

This wasn’t standard narrow gift ribbon.

The finished ribbon was being used as part of a large-scale event backdrop, requiring our extra-wide custom printed ribbon.

Wide ribbon gives logos, wording and graphic designs far more visual impact and can be used for event backdrops, ceremonies, launches, grand openings, finish lines and large-scale brand installations.

Printed in Essex, Delivered to Paris

The other challenge was time.

Paris Fashion Week wasn’t going to move because somebody needed ribbon, so Your Order had to fit around the event deadline rather than the other way around.

Our team coordinated the artwork, printing, finishing and dispatch before arranging courier delivery to Paris.

It’s exactly the sort of project where having the artwork and printing handled by the same team makes a difference. If something needs adjusting, we’re not waiting for work to pass backwards and forwards between several different suppliers.

From an American Enquiry to a Paris Fashion Event

One of the things we enjoy about personalised ribbon printing is that we rarely know what the next enquiry will bring.

On this occasion, an enquiry from America resulted in ribbon printed in Essex travelling to Paris for an event involving one of the world’s best-known fashion houses.

We received excellent feedback following the project, but perhaps the most satisfying part for our team was simply knowing that we’d met an unusually demanding brief and deadline.
