Artwork Guidelines for Personalised Printed Ribbon

Whether you’re ordering 5 metres for a special occasion or several thousand metres for a nationwide product launch, supplying suitable artwork helps us produce the best possible personalised ribbon.

Don’t worry if you’re not a graphic designer – we’ve been helping customers create beautiful printed ribbon since 2007, and we’re always happy to advise.

Every new personalised ribbon order includes a FREE PDF artwork proof, so you’ll have the opportunity to check everything before we print.

Before You Send Your Artwork

The better the quality of the artwork supplied, the better the finished ribbon will look.

However, don’t worry if you only have a logo taken from your website or social media. Send us what you have and we’ll advise whether it’s suitable or if we recommend an alternative.

Our aim is always to achieve the best possible print, not to make things complicated.

What File Types Do You Accept?

We can work with most common artwork formats.

Best for Printing

These allow your logo to be resized without losing quality and usually produce the sharpest printed results.

Also Suitable

✓ PNG (preferably with a transparent background)

Microsoft Files

We can often use artwork supplied in:

• Word
• PowerPoint
• Publisher

although we may need to recreate parts of the design for the best print quality.

Vector Artwork Explained

You may hear us ask whether your logo is available as a vector file.

Don’t worry if you’ve never heard the term before.

A vector logo is created using mathematical shapes rather than pixels, which means it stays perfectly sharp no matter how large or small it becomes.

Most professionally designed company logos are available as:

• AI
• EPS
• SVG
• Vector PDF

If you’re unsure, simply send us your logo and we’ll check it for you.

Can You Use My Website Logo?

Usually, yes.

If your logo appears on your website, we can often produce an excellent print from it.

If we think the quality isn’t high enough, we’ll let you know before production begins

I Only Have a Screenshot

That’s absolutely fine.

Send it anyway.

We can often recreate simple logos and text as part of our service.

What Resolution Should Images Be?

If you’re supplying photographs or raster images, we recommend:

300 dpi

or the highest resolution available.

Low-resolution images copied from social media may not print clearly, particularly on narrower ribbon widths.

Which Ribbon Width Should I Choose?

The amount of detail we can reproduce depends upon the ribbon width.

As a general guide:

If your logo contains lots of fine detail, we may recommend a wider ribbon.

Can You Print My Logo?

Yes.

Logos are included within our standard printing price.

There are no additional artwork or logo charges, and we don’t charge setup fees for adding your branding.

Can You Match My Brand Colours?

Often, yes.

Our standard foil printing is available in a wide range of colours, including metallic finishes.

For larger orders or specialist projects we also offer:

• Pantone colour matching
• Full-colour CMYK printing
• Specialist printing methods

If colour accuracy is important, please provide your Pantone reference where possible.

Which Colours Work Best?

High-contrast combinations usually produce the clearest results.

Some popular examples include:

If you’re unsure, we’ll happily recommend the most suitable combination.

QR Codes & Barcodes

We can print QR codes, website addresses and many types of barcode.

For reliable scanning, the code must be large enough for the ribbon width selected.

We’ll advise if we think a larger ribbon would improve readability.

Fonts

We have access to thousands of professional fonts.

You can also supply your own font if you would like your ribbon to match existing branding.

If you’re unsure which font has been used in your logo, we’ll often be able to identify it for you.

Artwork Approval

Before we print your ribbon, we’ll email you a FREE PDF proof.

Please check it carefully.

In particular, make sure you check:

• spelling
• dates
• telephone numbers
• website addresses
• email addresses
• logo positioning
• ribbon colour
• print colour

Production begins only after you’ve approved the artwork.

Repeat Orders

If you’re ordering exactly the same ribbon again, simply let us know your previous order number.

We’ll retrieve your existing artwork wherever possible, saving you time.

Copyright

By supplying artwork, you confirm that you own the necessary copyright or have permission from the copyright owner for us to reproduce it.

We reserve the right to refuse artwork that we believe infringes intellectual property rights.
