Sustainability
Our Commitment
At Personalised Printed Ribbons, we aim to source sustainable and eco-friendly products as much as possible, with additional packaging and materials wherever possible to minimise our environmental impact. Our ribbon will be rolled onto card or biodegradable plastic reels as much as possible.
Our approach applies to our housekeeping, the general running of our business and offices, and sourcing, designing and producing our products. We actively encourage our suppliers to think about the sustainability of their products. We minimise paper use in the office whenever possible and purchase recycled and recyclable paper products only. We reuse and recycle all paper where possible. We do not print shipping notes; we email our customers wherever possible.
We work continuously to improve, monitor and reduce our environmental impact. We have incorporated ecological factors into our core business decision-making and continue to improve and increase employee awareness and training. We provide recycling bins throughout the building in both working and social areas and actively encourage our employees to recycle, reuse and avoid unnecessary use of water and electricity whenever possible. We use a 100% green electricity supplier in our premises.
Personalised Printed Ribbons strive to minimise single-use plastic and use sustainable materials if they are available to us. We use paper stickers printed locally using eco-friendly toners as much as possible. We reuse packaging as much as possible and encourage our customers to do the same.
Our Delivery Companies
All of the couriers we use to deliver customer parcels are taking steps to improve their carbon footprint. You can find out more by visiting their websites:
DPD have a commitment to make every parcel they deliver carbon neutral at no extra cost. They do this by measuring their CO2 emissions, by striving to reduce them, and by offsetting the remaining emissions. DPDgroup targets a reduction of road transport CO2 emissions of 10% per parcel by 2020, compared to 2013. They are currently building the largest all-electric delivery fleet in the UK. If one of their drivers delivers your Personalised Printed Ribbons parcel using one of their all-electric fleet vehicles, they will let you know exactly which vehicle it is. Find out more via the DPD website.
APC carefully plan and models the trunking schedules to achieve route optimisation, make the best use of our available resources and reduce our Co2 emissions. We use modern aerodynamic fuel-efficient vehicles that are regularly maintained and serviced. We support the Department of Transport by participating in a 10-year pilot scheme trialling extended-length trailers. The test vehicles are independently monitored throughout the programme to log carbon emissions and safety records. We are committed to a waste recycling scheme, which includes shrink wrap, paper, cardboard, scrap metal and ink cartridges. All employees are trained and compliant in actively ensuring recyclable products are discarded appropriately. Unusable wooden pallets are provided to a third-party company for chipping and recycling. Our premises are fitted with energy-saving light bulbs and sensor lighting to minimise energy usage; we also use hand dryers as an environmentally friendly alternative to paper towels. Royal Mail is taking action to continually reduce emissions, reduce waste and improve the air quality in the communities in which we operate. This includes investing in technologies such as electric vehicles, drones, alternative fuel trucks and energy improvements to our estate. We are committed to providing sustainable services for our customers and communities as we deliver against our environmental ambitions. Find out more via the Royal Mail website.
