Tying a Favour Box

Make your favor boxes look professional with our easy to follow guide to perfect ribbon results; every time.

We love personalised printed ribbons, they add that finishing touch to your favour or gift boxes, creating the WOW effect we all crave.

Start by assembling your favour boxes, and depending on the size of your box cut a length of ribbon 1 metre long. You will probably be able to reduce this as you get more practice!

Take your printed ribbon and lay it cross the top of the box leaving about 30cm to the left of the favour box, make sure the printed side is facing upwards.

Holding the ribbon in place with your thumb on the centre top of the favor box, and wrap the ribbon to the right of your thumb around the bottom of the favour box and when you get back to the top of the box, hold this in place under your thumb too.  Now you are going to create the cross over of the ribbon, fold the ribbon back on itself and then at a right angle and then wrap the printed ribbon around the final two sides.  It's just like wrapping a Christmas present but on a smaller scale!

Every good favour box has a bow ! Form the first loop with your ribbon, keeping the printed side of the ribbon on the outside. As you form the second ribbon loop and pull it through, turn the ribbon around so the the printing is on the outside for this ribbon loop too - it takes a little bit of practice you will soon get the idea!  Keep the bow slightly loose while you make any adjustments, it's all in the detail, then pull tight. Trim the ends of the ribbon with sharp scissors to finish off the edge.
